Student Perspective on One-to-One Devices in Middle and High School

Education today operates much differently than in years past. With increased accessibility to and advancement in technology, it has become more popular in education. Since advanced technologies are being used in classrooms across the nation, it is important to understand the different affects technology has on education. In this paper the researchers investigated the perception students have on one-to-one devices. The various aspects studied include the effect devices have on students’ academics, engagement, and motivation. To get a better understanding of students’ perceptions, the researchers conducted a survey with questions regarding those three topics. The purpose of this study was to help educators better understand the students’ perceptions of one-to-one devices to better their teaching practices using the technology. By having this understanding, educators will be more aware of how one-to-one devices affect students and allow them to adjust to students’ needs in and out of the classroom
