The spring malting barley cultivars Uroš, Slavko, and Novosadski 438 were developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad and registered in 1999 by the Federal Variety Commission. All three of them have passed a three-year testing cycle in which they significantly out-yielded the standard cultivar Novosadski 294. They have a shorter growing season, shorter stems, and better technological quality of grain and malt than Novosadski 294. Particularly noteworthy in terms of technological quality of grain and malt is the cultivar Slavko, which has an 0.5% higher fine extract content than the standard as well as an 0.8% difference between fine and coarse extract and a low grain protein content (12.3%). .Sorte jarog pivskog ječm...
