Analysis of pesticides residue in fruity vegetables at Jeli market

Eight fruity vegetables samples were selected including cucumber, tomato, capsicum, chilli, pumpkin, bitter gourd, bottle gourd and eggplant that obtained from Jeli market as selection area. Pesticides acted as the key control tactics for pest and diseases management. The effectiveness of pest control management affected the crops productivity and quality itself. As for SPE theory, C18 cartridge and reverse phase used during sample extraction and analysed by GCMS with presence of acetone as solvent. Ethylene oxide pesticide was detected in cucumber sample that also acted as sterilizing agent. The objective of this research conducted consists of to conduct sample preparation method for fruity vegetables by solid-phase extraction (SPE) and to determine of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) the pesticide residue in fruiting vegetables by analysing gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Generally, chemical food contaminant that affecting the food supply chain management involved pesticides, heavy metal and other chemical agents. Fruits and vegetables are necessary in human diet to provide essential nutrients that are required for most reactions that occur in human body for a healthy life. As for improving farmer practices, farm visits should be conducted due to encourage them for preparing the documentation regarding pesticide application
