Research conducted during the past year in the climate and modeling programs has concentrated on the development of appropriate atmospheric and upper ocean models, and preliminary applications of these models. Principal models are a one-dimensional radiative-convective model, a three dimensional global climate model, and an upper ocean model. Principal applications have been the study of the impact of CO2, aerosols, and the solar constant on climate. Progress was made in the 3-D model development towards physically realistic treatment of these processes.
