An experiment was performed on the flap tip vortex shed from a half span Fowler flap. This flap was mounted on a 5 foot span NACA 63(2)-215 Mod B airfoil in the 7 by 10 foot wind tunnel at NASA Ames Research Center. Several noise reduction studies were performed with this model, and the addition of the Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) research discussed here served as a proof case of large scale PIV. The measurement plane investigated here was a cross plane region. This is cross plane relative to the freestream flow direction.
