This paper deals with the voltage profile enhancement on the Nigerian 330kV transmission power network using static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). Due to increase in power demand, modern power system networks are being operated under highly stressed conditions. This has resulted to difficulty in meeting reactive power requirement especially under planned or sudden changes in voltages, and hence maintaining the bus voltage within acceptable limits has been a major challenge in the power system network, hence the need for this paper which led to the introduction of Static Synchronous Series Compensator into the Nigeria National Grid (NNG) network for the improvement in electric power transmission.
