The main objective of this research was to identify the social representations that the teachers of History in formation, of the Araucania region, have about the process of territorial occupation carried out by the state of Chile in the late nineteenth century. The study, carried out from a qualitative approach, was carried out in the career of Pedagogy in History of the Faculty of Education of a University situated in the Araucania. The population of the study is formed by 30 students of the third and fourth year. The obtained results demonstrate that they have a vision of the occupation linked to the facts that at present they are living in the regional context dissociated from its school formation.
