The article deals with the analysis of Rus' medieval personal names. The object of the study is the examples of anthroponyms, which origin is not obvious and which can mean both the patronym and the nickname of their owners. The main attention is paid to such anthroponyms as: Khaldeevich („Халд евичь”), ѣевичь”), Pereyaslavich („Переӕславича”), Akerovich („Акерович”). On the one hand, the suffix „-ич” in these personal names can show that they are patronyms. On the other hand, the names from which they could come are unknown in modern sources. It gives certain reasons to consider them nicknames
