Between desire and repression. cracks to the ideal of domesticity in the grete stern’s photographic work published on idilio magazine

In the light of feminist art theory, this paper analyzesthe critique of the ideal if domestic life by the Germanbornphotographer Grete Stern. Her works appeared inthe column «The psychoanalysis will help you» of Idilio(1948-51), an Argentinian magazine. In a context ofadvances and setbacks lived by Argentinian womenof that period, Grete Stern exposed –through photomontages,unusual at that time, the cracks in the patterns ofdomesticity imposed to women as well as their aspirationsand frustrations.En este trabajo de investigación analizaré desde la teoríade arte feminista las críticas al patrón doméstico querealizara la fotógrafa Grete Stern en su serie de fotomontajesaparecidos en la columna «El psicoanálisis leayudará» de la revista Idilio (1948-1951). En un contextode conquistas y retrocesos vividos por las mujeresargentinas, Grete Stern evidencia las fracturas en losmandatos establecidos para las mujeres, sus anhelos derealización y sus frustraciones a través de fotomontajesinéditos en el periodo
