This paper aims at designing a classroom project as a didactic strategy that favors the development of numerical thinking through the integration of the history of mathematics with the set of Real numbers, in ninth graders at Nicanor Restrepo Santamaria educational institution in Medellín city. A diagnostic test was applied to the group, finding flaws to recognize the sense and meaning of the different sets that frame the real numbers (Natural, Integer, Rational and Irrational). These difficulties were intervened through structured activities based on the theory of meaningful learning proposed by Ausubel (1963), and the socio-cultural theory by Vigotsky (1978), and articulated from the history of mathematics, specifically in the way the re...
