At the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of A.l.C.A. (InternationalAssociation of Art Critics, an organization sponsored by UNESCO), held inTokyo recently, the XXXII World Congress of Art Critics provided aspecial occasion to offer an in-depth analysis of creative expression in art,particularly in regard to the relationship between tradition and globalization.With the attendance of more than a hundred critics and specialists fromOceanía and various Asían, European, North and Latin American countries,an interesting debate ensued and opportunities arose that furthered thediscussion of similar problems and concerns in an Asiatic country whoseprivileged position at the coming of the next century is more than evident.Con motivo del 50° aniversario de la creación de A. l. C. A. -AsociaciónInternacional de Críticos del Arte-, adscrita a UNESCO, tuvo lugarrecientemente en la ciudad de Tokyo, el XXXII Congreso Mundialde Críticos de Arte que constituyó una especial ocasión para realizar unaporte fundamental en la profundización de la problemática más recienteque afrontan las manifestaciones creativas del arte, especialmente enel aspecto de la relación tradición-globalización. Con la asistencia de más de un centenar de críticos y especialmentede diferentes países de Asia, Europa, Oceanía, Norteamérica y AméricaLatina, se adelantó una interesante reflexión y se tuvo la oportunidad dediscutir similares preocupaciones, en este país asiático cuya situación privilegiadaen el nuevo siglo es evidente
