“Learning vocabulary is learning collocations” (Hausmann 1984: 395). Collocations are a particularly difficult area of the foreign language and they are the reason for many mistakes. Nevertheless, their way into the dictionaries was very long and still today collocations are not systematically presented in dictionaries.
