34 páginas: tablas.The study consisted of identifying coping strategies associated with the magnitude of the symptoms of post-traumatic stress, in 50 Police of Colombia with a recent traumatic event and eight months later. The Symptom List was applied for the diagnosis of PTSD and the Modified Coping Strategies test-EEC-M. The study is a non-experimental quantitative prospective relational type of a single cohort. Data were analyzed with IBM SPSS 25, through descriptive statistics and correlations. It was found that the magnitude of the symptoms of PTSD in the recent event, has a positive relationship with the Denial and a high significance with a negative tendency towards Problem Solving; the magnitude of PTSD symptoms eight months later, has a positive relationship with Denial, Emotional Avoidance and the Search for Professional Support; The coping strategies of Denial (NEG), Emotional Avoidance (EE) and Search for Professional Support (BAP) are significant predictors of PTSD.El estudio consistió en identificar las estrategias de afrontamiento asociadas a la magnitud de los síntomas del estrés postraumático, en 50 Policías de Colombia con evento traumático reciente y ocho meses después. Se aplicó la Lista de síntomas para el diagnóstico de TEPT y la prueba de Estrategias de Afrontamiento Modificada-EEC-M. El estudio es cuantitativo no experimental de tipo relacional prospectivo de cohorte única. Los datos se analizaron con el IBM SPSS 25, a través de estadísticos descriptivos y correlaciones. Se encontró que la magnitud de los síntomas de TEPT en el evento reciente, tiene una relación positiva con la Negación y una significación alta con tendencia negativa respecto a Solución de Problemas; la magnitud de los síntomas de TEPT ocho meses después, tiene una relación positiva con la Negación, la Evitación Emocional y la Búsqueda de Apoyo profesional; las estrategias de afrontamiento de Negación (NEG), Evitación Emocional (EE) y Búsqueda de Apoyo Profesional (BAP) son predictores significativos del TEPT.Magíster en Psicología ClínicaMaestrí
