Importancia económica, cultural, social y turística de las termas en la provincia de Pichincha

The quality of life and availability of time increases the demand for leisure and recreation. Among the alternatives, it is worth highlighting health tourism, which is gaining extraordinary relevance (Prado, 2000). This tourist segment is being driven towards promotion and development, which is confirmed as an interesting tourist specialisation. This investigation begins with a general diagnosis in the different cantons of the province of Pichincha that have thermal waters as a tourist attraction, a high influx of national and foreign visitors, adequate infrastructure and easy access for tourists. The search for rest and physical well-being of the visitors by taking advantage of the mining-medicinal qualities of the water, becomes a place of leisure since from these spas are promoted activities such as sports and gastronomic tasting typical of a rural tourismLa calidad de vida y disponibilidad de tiempo incrementa la demanda de ocio y esparcimiento. Entre las alternativas, merece destacarse especialmente el turismo de salud, que está adquiriendo una extraordinaria relevancia (Prado, 2000). Éste segmento turístico está siendo impulsado hacia la promoción y el desarrollo, la cual se confirma como una interesante especialización turística. Esta investigación inicia con un diagnóstico general en los diferentes cantones de la provincia de Pichincha que cuentan con aguas termales como atractivo turístico, una alta afluencia de visitantes nacionales y extranjeros, infraestructura adecuada y facilidad de acceso para los turistas. La búsqueda del descanso y del bienestar físico de los visitantes por aprovechar las cualidades minero – medicinales del agua, se convierte en lugares de ocio ya que desde estos balnearios se promueven actividades como deportes y degustaciones gastronómicas típicas de un turismo rural
