The municipal landfill is an example of human-made environment that contain high level of heavy metals contamination and harbors a complex diversity of microorganisms. To evaluate the landfill complexity, this study aims to assess the structures of bacterial communities in active and closed landfills with culture independent metagenomics approaches. At the same time, the potential of indigenous landfill bacteria to treat heavy metals and their succession in bioaugmentation process were analysed. Several points of soil samples were collected from 0 to 20 cm depth and were subjected to physicochemical test.
