Dissertação de Mestrado em Medicina do Desporto apresentada à Faculdade de MedicinaResumoOs atletas de elite apresentam, frequentemente, diminuição do tempo global de sono, principalmente os atletas estudantes. Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma revisão da literatura mais importante relativa ao impacto do sono no desempenho dos atletas, assim como, sumarizar algumas recomendações para otimização dos hábitos de sono. A revisão narrativa teve como base uma pesquisa bibliográfica alargada nas bases de dados PubMED e Embase, de modo a procurar artigos relacionados com o impacto do sono na performance dos atletas usando os seguintes termos MESH: sleep (sono), elite (elite), competitive (competitivo), athlete (atleta), sport (desporto),...
