This paper presents research to develop and evaluate a new generic model of individual workplace performance. First, individuals’ notions of performance were uncovered through Repertory Grid interviews with a professional/managerial sample (N = 25). Expert discussions of the findings provided the basis for developing a generic performance model consisting of 11 categories (e.g. ‘Engaging with Others’) and 57 subcategories. To assess generalisation of this model to a more comprehensive population, a second study was conducted, using a newly developed multirater performance measure building on this new model.
