Mediación y conflictos parento-filiales en el ámbito de la migración internacional

In this paper, we will share with our readers an analysis we have made about the conflicts generated in a family when one or both of the parents, mother or father, decide to migrate out of their country of origin but their children have to stay. This analysis is supported by our research project Changes and Conflicts of International Migration in Family Groups, made in Cartagena, Colombia. In this research we have recuperated the narration of ordinary experiences migrants and their family members usually have to face. We have also found the sociocultural significance and meaning given to the concept of parenthood gotten from the experience of one of the parents living abroad. We have observed that while living in these separated geographical spaces a new link between the different members of the familyis generated. The affect expressed in the communication processes they develop due to the distance they have becomes a tool to mediate among the different members of the family. It also becomes a possibility for the construction of the family in a new scenario.Los conflictos que se generan cuando los padres y las madres deciden migrar fuera del país quedando sus hijos e hijas en el lugar de origen son de notable complejidad y de gran trascendencia en la propia supervivencia del sistema familiar. La comprensión de este fenómeno se sustenta en la investigación Cambios y conflictos de los grupos familiares frente a la migración internacional, realizada en Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, desde la cual se han recuperado las narraciones de experiencias cotidianas de migrantes y familiares y los significados socioculturales atribuidos a la paternidad y la maternidad desde el vivir transnacional. Es desde este contexto que vislumbramos en la mediación familiar la posibilidad de propiciar la construcción de dinámicas vinculantes y cercanías afectivas a través de procesos de comunicación desde la distancia geográfica
