Lesson Description:This resource is the last lesson in a series of nine from the Vocational Math: Contextualized for Construction course that was taught at Madison Area Technical College. In this lesson, students are introduced to the idea of creating even spacing and apply this concept to a number of contextualized situations including: calculating the layout for stairs, balusters, and siding. Students work in pairs with manipulatives with the balusters problem to aid in understanding the concept of the 'ghost baluster' as a method to ensure even spacing.The expected total time for lesson is 145 minutes.
