It’s vitally important to study the dynamic Lofoten Islands, Norway in order to understand its past climate and further broaden our knowledge on what was going on in the past and what could happen in the future. There is spectacular geology present on the islands from coral reefs to the erosional resistant mountain islands along with evidence of glacial impacts. Glacial impacts imply that the landscape was once inundated by sea level in the past, allowing the isolation basin method to be used to reconstruct past climate. Lake core samples will be analyzed using a variety of geochemical proxies in order to get at past and future climate cycles.
