Emotions in Politicians Discourse. The Case of Presidential Elections in Lithuania 2019. Emotions in politics are usually associated with the political style of populism, however theory of of Emotion Discourse states that all discourses have a certain emotional content or affect. As the personal qualities of the candidate are important for Lithuanian citizens, and they are closely related to emotions, it was chosen to examine the 2019 Lithuanian presidential elections, raising the question of what emotions prevail in the discources of the candidates researching the speeches of I. Šimonytė, G. Nausėda, S. Skvernelis and N. Puteikis during the debates of the presidential elections in the Republic of Lithuania. In order to address main task of this thesis, the specific methodological design was established. The content analysis allowed to divide the speech of I. Šimonytė, G. Nausėda, S. Skvernelis and N. Puteikis into categories and thus investigate which emotional dimension category was most common, and the discourse analysis enabled the introduction of a deeper research element by analyzing the expression of emotions in languages and paying attention to individual discrete emotions
