The impact of globalization on income inequality in central and eastern european states

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the probable impact of globalization on income inequality in Central and Eastern European countries during the period 1993-2017. The first two parts of this paper deals with theoretical aspects of globalization and income inequality, also examines quantitative methods of globalization and income inequality measurement. In the third part, the theoretical relationship between globalization and income inequality is presented, as well as academic discussion and currently existing findings on this topic. Further, the trends of income inequality and globalization in Central and Eastern Europe during the period 1993-2017 is exposed. In the fourth part, the data, variables and design of empirical research are presented. Finally, the results and limitations of this study are explained and analyzed. Final conclusion of this paper is that social globalization increases income inequality in Central and Eastern European countries during the period 1993-2017. Along with that, further researches on income inequality would have to include other dimensions of globalization, besides the main economic area to avoid any inaccuracies in the final conclusions about the general globalization impact on income inequality. This study also revealed other globalization measurement limitations suggesting slight improvements for more accurate representation of interdependence among the countries
