Karen Shepherdson and Val Williams were commissioned to co-curate the exhibition Seaside Photographed at Turner Contemporary, Margate (2019) - the gallery's first photographic exhibition. Seaside Photographed examined the complex relationship between photographers, photography and British seaside from the 1850s to the present day. The research, in the form of a co-curated exhibition and co-authored publication, articulated a multitude of visions, examining the relationships between photographers, the coast of Britain and coastal communities.
