A literature review has been conducted into the design guidelines for concrete block revetments in a coastal environment. Both permeable and relatively impermeable structures have been considered, but no account has been taken of cabling or interlocking of the blocks. The report lists a number of stability criteria for both the protective outer layer and the filter layers of coastal revetments. The hydraulic performance is also discussed
