Following the occurrence of severe accidents at nuclear facilities, mainly due to a number of human failures, there was a consensus of the nuclear industry on the importance of Human Factor Engineering in maintaining the safe operability of nuclear power plants. This work develops an analysis of the applicability of the Human Factors Engineering Program in licensing and in the certification of projects of construction and modernization of control rooms of PWR nuclear power plants with the use of digital instrumentation and controls, under the perspective of the regulation of NRC and KTA.
