What emotions and associations are evoked by various fonts

Bachelor thesis focuses on how we perceive various fonts. There are described the definition of font, the most important terms related to writings, its anatomy, evolution and classification in the theoretical part. Afterwards the bachelor thesis focuses on, what people associate with various fonts and if fonts can evoke emotions. One chapter describes famous logos and their usage of fonts. In practical part I have made a questionnaire, of which aim is to confirm or disprove assumptions, which are based on the theoretical part. There are 6 fonts chosen, each representing a type of fonts, and respondents wrote what words or feelings they associate with those 6 writings. Afterwards there are written results of the questionnaire for each writing. The aim of bachelor thesis is to find out, how people perceive fonts, because nowadays it is important to create a great product design, choose the right font for a website or article, otherwise companies can drive away their target group of clients.Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na vnímání písma z hlediska asociací a emocí. V teoretické části je popsáno písmo, nejdůležitější pojmy pojící se s písmem, jeho anatomie, vývoj a klasifikace či rozdělení písma. Následně popisuje emoce a asociace, které si lidé spojují s určitými typy písma, včetně zamyšlení nad používání fontů v logách a významu řezu písma. V praktické části je sestaven dotazník, jehož cílem je ověřit nebo vyvrátit poznatky z teoretické části. Je sestaven z několika částí, kde respondenti hodnotí a popisují šest druhů písma, kdy každé písmo reprezentuje určitou skupinu. Poté bakalářská práce vyhodnocuje výsledky a pro každou část jsou sepsány nejdůležitější poznatky, které vyvrací nebo potvrzují domněnky a předpoklady vycházející z teorie. Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, jak lidé vnímají různé druhy písma z hlediska asociací a emocí, protože výběr správného fontu může ovlivnit reklamu, psaný text a celkově, jak je grafika nebo tisk vnímán
