The article investigates how outsourcing processes of public services impact on labour and employment relations in the Italian public administration. Through a comparative case-study analysis between local government and health care sector the research, beyond identifying some convergent trajectories between the two sectors, sheds light on relevant divergences to which various explanations are provided
