The purpose of this paper is to highlight the research performed on the impact of flexible schedule availability in the workforce. The adoption of a flexible work schedules by companies provide benefits to both employees and employers. Employers who participate in flexible scheduling are able to retain and recruit employees, increase operational cost savings, and create a better work-life balance for their employees. The research explores the resulting benefits of flexible scheduling to both the employer and the employee. Different types of flexible schedules including telecommuting, part-time telecommuting, flex-time, compressed work week, and the ability to make up hours missed without penalty are reviewed.
