The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a health care reform law enacted in March 2010. The Affordable Care Act was signed into law by President Barack Obama. The ACA has been the most all-inclusive reform of healthcare in the United States. It is the first time that the government has mandated health insurance. The ACA has significantly expanded public insurance, both Medicare and Medicaid. The government also provides payment assistance for individuals who seek their own health insurance coverage through the health insurance marketplaces.
