The Academic Reading Format International Study (ARFIS) is an initiative led by Diane Mizrachi of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and other partners from universities across the world. The aim of the study is to identify students’ format preferences and behaviours when engaging with academic reading (Mizrachi et al, 2015). The collection of data at an international level, offers the opportunity to identify if there are any variations across cultures and institutions, in the attitudes and behaviours of the students regarding the formats (digital and/or print) in which they do their academic reading.
