Participatory geographies involve approaches to research, learning, and teaching that engage in the world, with local people and communities as co-researchers and co-producers of knowledge, as/towards progressive change. Drawing from feminism, critical race theory, postcolonialism, and poststructuralism, they are enacted through an ethical orientation to mutual collaboration, emphasizing process and iterative reflection, learning and action, with co-researchers central to driving and benefitting from any project.
