The sky on the left-hand side of the picture contains an indication of cumulus clouds to the left of and behind the lower half of a mountain which rises steeply from the left to centre of the background, falling steadily and somewhat less sharply to the right, with small trees indicated around the middle of that descending ridge. The mountain's lower slopes are wooded all round, rising to meet the ridge trees only on part of the right-hand slope. The top contours of the mountain are rough and craggy, especially to the right, with some indication of sheer vertical faces on the mid and upper slopes.
