The article is a generalization of research results on population number and density dynamics in the border regions of Lithuania and neighbouring countries. The general term 'border region' (e.g., the Latvian-Lithuanian border region) is applied to the aggregate of administrative regions (district municipalities in Lithuania) and city territories situated on both sides of the border. The research has been carried out on the level of most compatible territorial units - administrative regions and their equivalents.
