Bird feeders are a popular hobby across the United States, resulting in the widespread availability of commercial feeder seeds. While many previous studies have focused on factors that influence wild bird seed selection, few have focused on commonly used seeds at feeder stations run by hobbyists and which seeds are best for causal feeding stations. This study aims to determine seed preference among wild birds for two common seed types: black oil sunflower seeds and gray striped sunflower seeds.
