The study aims to find out the conceptions of future teachers (FT), at the beginning of their training, about humour and its value for teaching mathematics. FT was investigated through the use of a questionnaire and an interview. The results show that FT has a conception of what humour is and its social relevance, they believe they have a sense of humour and appreciate it in others. They consider that mathematics is compatible with the use of humour, citing reasons of cognitive, emotional and communicative nature, but most of them say that they did not have mathematics teachers who used it.FCT e IPV (CI&DEI)info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
