Add to ORKGThe aim of the paper is to present a functional-cognitive approach to the information structure in text in comparison to other models of this linguistic and cognitive phenomenon and to analyze the information packaging in short journalistic leads of German press articles. The analysis concentrates on two basic aspects of information packaging on the text level such as: (a) the information structure of the text opening sentence and the thematic progression in press leads and (b) its linguistic correlates such as bridging anaphora and abstract object anaphora
