This project focussed upon the 'cover sand' deposits of North Lincolnshire and used a variety of prospection techniques to identify possible archaeological sites that were then investigated via excavation. A number of analytical techniques were then tested with a view to gauging their effectiveness with these types of deposits. The results obtained are positive, with clear potential for further work. They show the capability of these techniques to both aid in the identification of archaeological remains and in the analysis of those sites. This represents a significant step forward as the 'cover sand' deposits face threats from extraction, agriculture and heathland regeneration programmes
