Maternal immune activation (MIA) during pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of development of schizophrenia in later life. 17β-estradiol treatment may improve schizophrenia symptoms, but little is known about its efficacy on MIA-induced psychosis-like behavioural deficits in animals.
