II Brominated flame retardants (BFRs) are persistent organic pollutants that have reached a global distribution in the environment. Many of the BFRs are lipophilic and bioaccumulative, and consequently several of them have been found in wildlife tissue with some of the highest levels recorded in several raptor species.
