This thesis deals with the non-linear dynamic time history analysis of a certain type of medium- and high-rise concentric braced frame designed according to the new National Building Code of Canada (1990) and CAN/CSA-S16.1-M89. The program DRAIN-2D was used to carry out the earthquake simulations of this structure. A number of recorded earthquakes was selected as the input of ground motions.A preliminary statistical study is attempted on the structural response to the ground motions.The design procedures proposed by the new design codes are evaluated.
