Palladium, being impermeable to all gases except hydrogen, has been widely studied for hydrogen extraction in recent years. The specific surface area of the membrane is an important factor affecting the hydrogen permeation rate. How to obtain a palladium membrane with a high specific surface area is a great challenge for material scientists.
