The investigation of the interaction of light with tissue has many applications in the field of diagnostic medicine. The objective of the project was to obtain quantitative measurements of constituents in a medium in which the absorption and scattering optical properties vary. Initially the project was divided into two separate experiments, namely multiwavelength steady state and time resolved measurements.
