The goals, in the present study, were to compare both the behavioural and electrophysiogical processing of congruent and incongruent multisensory semantic information among 13 persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD: mean age 16 years) and 14 IQ and gender matched typically developing persons (mean age 18 years). Participants completed a computerized, forced-choice reaction time task in which they had to decide whether a sound (e.g. 'meow') and a picture (e.g. dog) were congruent or incongruent when these were presented either simultaneously or sequentially at one of several stimulus onset asynchronies (SOA: 125, 250, and 650 msec).
