Presumably due to the very root of insurance and its economic development in England and North America, each and everyone claim that Quebec insurance law has its origins in the common law. Therefore, Quebec law is strongly influenced by this legal system while it is yet civil law built into the Civil Code of Quebec. The objective of this study is to demonstrate that the sources of Quebec insurance law do not come exclusively, or even mainly from the common law, but rather from various sources.
