Following immigration and trauma experiences, memory, adjustment, and personal transformation prove to be complex processes across the lifespan. The overall aim of this thesis is to examine how elderly Polish individuals who experienced childhood trauma reflect on their lives and remember both their life experiences and their migration trajectories. During WWII, after having been exiled from their homes at the onset of war to Soviet labour camps (gulags), Polish children and youth spent several years in international refugee camps beginning in 1942 before settling, often very successfully, in Canada or New Zealand.
