At the present time, border competition is recognized as an important error affecting comparative yields in agronomic investigations. This is particularly true where varieties which differ greatly are grown in single adjacent rows, but it may also affect, although to a lesser extent, tests carried on in larger plots, unless some means of overcoming this affect is provided.
