In the following thesis, a short review has been made of part of the literature on oestrin dealing with methods of extraction andof assay. The fact that oestrin is excreted in the human being in combination with glycuronic acid has been described, and the subjectof glycuronic acid metabolism reviewed. The recent discovery of the compound pregnandiol sodium glucuronidate in urine has been pointedout as well as its relationship to both pregnandiol and corpus luteum hormone. The experimental work is concerned with the preparation of a potent enzyme solution from animal organs, which will produce hydrolysisof the glycuronide of both pregnandiol and oestrin.
