The relations between reading development and attention difficulties are not clearly understood. This thesis contributed to understanding their interrelatedness through the use of rapid automatized naming (RAN) tasks. The first article is a review, and the second and third articles are empirical follow-up studies. The focus of the thesis is on the interrelations among the continuous rapid naming of color and letter stimuli, behavioral ADHD-symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, and the alphabetic language-based reading fluency of children in elementary school.
