The influence of cardiac sympathetic denervation performed by peripulmonary dissection and transection of the ventrolateral cervical cardiac nerve (Kaye), and extensive cardiac autonomic denervation performed by pre- and sub- aortic neurectomy (Arnulf), was assessed on sudden death and arrhythmia in dogs. Coronary artery occlusion in these dogs was produced by the placement of coronary ameroid constrictors around the origins of the right coronary artery, the left anterior descending artery and the circumflex artery
