Low circulating testosterone levels in the male are a major cause of hypogonadism and infertility and have been linked to mood changes, fatigue, osteoporosis, reduced bone-mass index and aging. The treatment of choice, testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT), reverses several symptoms of low testosterone levels. However, this treatment is linked to luteinizing hormone (LH) suppression, which leads to reduced fertility, increased risk for prostate cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
